People on the SJG Forums still reference the work I did a while ago on bullet statistics conversion from real-world data. The fact is, the equations for weapon penetration did not change form 3e to 4e, and where there are some real issues with scaling weapons, the derivation of penetration is the same, and (more…
I love the Size and Speed/Range Table in GURPS. EABA has one too. I think both games get things right and wrong here, and since I have an idle moment, I want to say why. What’s Right? Where do these kinds of charts succeed? While there’s lots of small things, here are the big ones…
Thanks to all for coming by and reading the DFRPG post yesterday. While it wasn’t my most successful post ever (that honor belongs to my post on shields last year), it was very well read, and I hope that encouraged you to poke around the site more. Two things I wanted to touch on here…
Welcome to Gaming Ballistic, March 2014 host of the RPG Blog Carnival. The topic for March is “Virtual Table-Tops – Impact on Games and Gaming.” As I thought of my history of gaming, first playing with a single friend in 1981 or so (Dungeons and Dragons, of course), through the years I’ve played with groups…
Artur the Knight [187 points] Oh, you really don’t want to piss this guy off. Here’s another example from the Delvers to Grow kickstarter. After the 125-point eldhuð swashbuckler, now we’re going to walk through a 187-point knight. Any physical resemblance to my Viking martial arts instructor is purely intentional. Step 1: Pick a Category…
I have 140 individual packages to mail. 70 of those are single hardcopies; another 34 are double-books. The remainder, which hopefully is 36 people, were more complicated orders. The most impressive was four books; slightly behind that was three hardcopies plus two softcovers! Hardcopy fulfillment has begun for real. Finally! (That also means if you…

I expect that you'll keep us updated here or on G+ as a reminder when they go live. I didn't see any obvious way to add your posts there to my RSS feed.
I will – I'll also replicate the prior week's post the day before the following one goes live. Some of the posts are long enough that I've broken them in two, others are even longer but breaking it up into pieces didn't make as much sense.
Excellent! I'll try to find reasons to comment over there. I know that people employing bloggers like that sort of thing even more than bloggers like getting comments. 😉
FYI, "employ" in the "getting paid for this" sense isn't accurate – I'm not on the payroll over there. Jeffro liked my work, recommended it to the management, presumably they read some of my stuff (or at least my first sample post once I got my groove on), and asked me to write more.
Sorry you feel you have to associate yourself with people like that (check out their lead editor's publicly expressed views some time); I hope the boost to your career is worth it.
I don't endorse his publicly expressed views any more than I endorse any particular views by any other venue which hosts, but does not dictate, my work. The writing itself is, and always will be, based on gaming only.
Thank you, RogerBW, for pointing that out. Sorry, Douglas, I don't want to give that "racially aware" person any clicks. I'll just have to wait for your later publication here.
I respect that. You'll see the posts appear here starting next Monday morning, and weekly thereafter.
