Dark Lord’s Doom at GaryCon 2022

John Hanna plays Dark Lord’s Doom, by David Pulver, as a GM’d adventure instead of as a solo at GaryCon 2022.

This isn’t the first time it’s been done as a convention adventure, and for low-prep, high-reward fun this one and Dragon Hunt! both play well as GM’d adventures. Dragon Hunt! in particular was brutal during playtest even with multiple 38-point PCs, so tuning it to a full table of lower-level adventures might work out as well!

  1. Both excellent choices. Dark Lord’s Doom is a small squad adventure where you can bring the unit up to strength, after losses, with recruits. (Looks like the bridge holding action in the picture, which is great fun.) And tackling the toughest monsters in Dragon Hunt was difficult even with three powerful characters.
