Best Supporting Actors: Last 48 hours

The Final Stretch of Best Supporting Actors

Well, here we go. The last 48 hours of a campaign are always exciting, and with nearly 750 folks following who haven’t yet backed … it could get very interesting.

I’ve been working hard today, and have now finished preliminary layout on at least 123 of the 172 characters. It may be more because some of them were done beforehand. I did the hardest ones today, though: the final 50 should be a lot faster and I hope to finish them all tomorrow. Then it’s write up the prose and rules and options in the beginning, then go back and make sure it’s all consistent with itself.

(And much like reading the old Dungeon Master’s Guide, a careful read of the OSE Rules Tomes always brings a new “oh…I’d forgotten that” moment, in this case that magic armor and shields only weigh half of what their normal counterparts do. That’s a neat feature.)

Also, as I was working, so was Billy Blue. He just dropped off a sketch for me based on the chats we had about which characters to include. Without further ado:

Obviously this is just a pencil sketch for now. But what we have here are Shokol (F3) arguing with Ulre (F1) as Shokol’s buddy Rergol is keeping an eye on Fliyma (Acrobat-1/Ranger-3), who is absolutely ready to feather Shokol if he does anything untoward as Tothre (F4) acts as rear guard. We decided the three ladies were their own adventuring party, the Sisterhood of the Acquisitive Berserker. Rergol and Shokol are a pair hailing from Far Away, and attempting to assert priority over who enters the Ancient Ruins™ first.

Unfortunately, all of them took their eyes off the scenery, as Cuaway (F4), Doncse (F6), and Nufjuan (F6) of the Severed Hand have the drop on them from the woods, while something with tentacles has dropped by to inquire what’s all the noise, and perhaps everyone would like to join it for lunch?

Billy noted that having all the characters written up with personality and gear really helped set the scene. We had deliberated putting in more figures, but it’s only an A5 book so we wanted those who were on it to be clear.

In any case … that’s where we are.

So let the last 48 hours begin! I hope you’re intrigued by the characters and the opportunity to cut down your pre-game prep time.

If so: please support Best Supporting Actors in the last days of the campaign, as we drive for the final stretch goal, a hardcover offset print run!
