Ballistic’s Report – May 12, 2023

A bunch of good stuff distributed to patrons, work on a side project, and other nose-down items. The physical goods for Best Supporting Actors go into manufacturing.

  • Best Supporting Actors had some errata released, files updated, and books and cards ordered.
  • Books are probably arriving in 10 days or so; cards could be any time from “hey, they’re ready tomorrow” and “first week of June, ish.”
  • We’re down to 10 backers with physical goods with no surveys; only one of those is not from the US hub. Two more are international. All are covered by “I always send or have a few extra copies” so that’s not hard.
  • I got Scorpion Labyrinth into a semi-final layout and editing state. I also got Artifacts of Nordlond into a preview layout state for my backers. It was a good week to be a Patreon Subscriber.
  • I finally had a bit of time to work on a project with Peter, and now that I’m not buried under crap, made good strides.
  • I also submitted the next TFT project skeleton to Kickstarter, so I hope to have a project placeholder page Real Soon Now.

Gaming Ballistic Patreon

To help with ongoing funding of art and speed eventual time to delivery, Gaming Ballistic started a Patreon in January 2021. Here’s the weekly update on Patreon status.

  • Membership status: 60 patrons and $439 per month.
  • Special Content in May: OSE Best Supporting Actors book and cards; Artifacts of Nordlond preview; Scorpion Labyrinth playable preview.

Currently Manufacturing/Fulfilling/Shipping

Projects where hardcopies and PDFs are going out or scheduled to do so.

  • The OSE Solos and Nightmare Fuel campaigns are both closed.
  • Best Supporting Actors books and cards both sent to production!

Crowdfunding and Product Launches

  • The Best Supporting Actors: Adversaries and Allies project launched on March 7 and closed April 8. It raised over $19K.
    • All PDF content distributed
    • Books and cards ordered
    • If things go best-case, initial books will be in US backers’ hands before June starts.
  • Gearing up for first Infinite Archipelago release at the end of May: The Isle of Sedra for The Fantasy Trip should launch May 25 if things go to plan.

Product Announcements

The full Product Catalog is accurate as of Sept 3, 2022 but needs a refresh for new product and a Spring 2023 update. Look for that and dissemination of my new PbG products to all sales channels.

The Nightmare Fuel books and the VTT Module are now available in all intended formats on my shopify store!

In Development

Writing and content creation for announced projects. Some of this may be cryptic.

Let’s see where we are on other things…

  • Artifacts of Norðlond. I have preview manuscript. The author has been paid. Art direction may start soon, but I may need a bit of crowdfunding help with that. Considering a short campaign on a parallel platform.
  • “Gwalathar” TFT Setting by David Pulver. First book in hand, and David is using “writing the adventures” to flesh out the setting book. Kickstarter structure in place and submitted, anticipate May 25 launch. Do need the next two books, and that’s looking a little dicey here.
  • Infinite Archipelago is happening. I have the first plan here with the TFT books David is making right now, and big plans for late summer or early fall for bringing Nordlond into the OSE and TFT as part of this line. Heck, I think I even have a logo for it.
  • Delvers to Grow Companion. Some new professions. A whole bunch of new disad packages. Epic Upgrades. Everyman Adventurer modules. Who knows what else will strike me? I know what I want to do with this one. I’m hoping for this one in July 2023.
  • Mission X: The contract has been fully executed and I’m very pleased with the terms.
  • Let Us Rejoice! Looking at my planned releases and the work required, this is either 2024 or “as time permits” in 2023…and I hope it’s a non-crowdfund release in 2023 and time does
  • Inns and Taverns; Two Warring Houses, by Douglas Cole. Systemless. 2024 is likely, and I’m probably going to solicit new authors on both.

I actively encourage prospective authors to drop me proposals having to do with any of the above projects, but bear in mind that there are guidelines and strictures that must be followed to make a sale and move from concept to final.

Friction

Bits of news and items that put a monkey in the wrench.

  • Rotator cuff is still bad. MRI machine broke and now I’m on the docket for May 16.
  • Still having anxiety if I can keep this game publishing thing up and contribute to the household to the needed degree.
  • Had a bit of cold/flu, plus hard to sleep when you roll over and it just hurts (see rotator cuff, above).

Fair Winds

Information about things that move GB forward.

  • BSA is all done except getting the physical stuff and getting the books to backers.
  • Very pleased with both Scorpion Labyrinth and Artifacts of Nordlond.
  • I’ve lost about four pounds, and am within striking distance of dipping below 200 lbs on my way to 165–170lbs. Not really being able to exercise without significant pain is an issue, but “eat less, eat right” is working
