Thursday is GURPSDay! May 10 to May 30, 2019

Thursday is GURPSDay, and I’m on time this week! These last three weeks saw a real surge in activity, and there’s a LOT of GURPS here for you, plus THREE new blogs on the list!

Even so: catch up and get some repeat views and if you missed some. They’re in reverse chronological order, so if you’re up-to-date, just skim off the top!

News for Gaming Ballistic:

  • Citadel at Nordvorn, Fantastic Dungeon Grappling, and Hall of Judgment (2nd Edition) are all still on schedule to ship to the UK mid-June. Time to order those bookmarks!
  • My new venture, Four Perilous Journeys, for The Fantasy Trip funded last week, and thanks to a major re-shuffling of campaign goals and rewards – including a FIFTH Perilous Journey – did over $4,000 of funding in ONE DAY. That was over 20% mid-campaign, which is freakin’ huge.

GURPSDay is in its sixth – GURPSDay started in February 2013,  a year after I started Gaming Ballistic. Things have slowed down a bit, and I’ll be considering how to revitalize this weekly activity. I’d like to see an average of 100 posts here per week – one per blog, ish – so we’ll see what we can do to get creative juiced flowing. If you just started a GURPS blog – and I know that some of you have – email me and get on the list! With the advent of the Dungeon Fantasy RPG, Powered by GURPS, there’s even more reason to write.

How? Two action items: post more, recruit more. It’s really that simple. More posters is more posts, and more interest in GURPS.

Below you can find the blog activity for the last week. There’s a whole lotta awesome GURPS going on. Read all the posts.

Not every blog posts about GURPS every week, but some are ridiculously prolific! The list is randomized, so different bloggers will be highlighted at the top of the post each week.

As always, if you’re interested in having your blog consolidated here, navigate over to The Instructions Page and drop me a line. Take special note of the RSS Settings Fix if you’re on WordPress.

  • GM Commentary: ConsOps 2.08 (5/26/19) – Discussion about the GURPS Action game I ran in Fantasy Ground on 5/26/2019 which went about like I figured. No stats abused but some in-game mechanics discussed. Reflections on where what worked and what didn’t.
  • GamePrep: ConsOps, 2.08 (5/24/19)
  • GM Commentary: ConsOps 2.07 (5/05/19) – Discussion about the GURPS Action game I ran in Fantasy Ground on 5/4/2019 which went in a direction I did not anticipate. No stats abused but some in-game mechanics discussed. Reflections on where what worked and what didn’t.
  • GamePrep: ConsOps, 2.07 (5/03/19)
  • GM Commentary: ConsOps 2.06 (4/29/19) – Discussion about the GURPS Action game I ran in Fantasy Ground on 4/27/2019 which was mostly just a single long tactical encounter. No stats abused. Reflections on where what worked and what didn’t.
  • GamePrep: ConsOps, 2.06 (4/23/19) – Preparing for the GURPS Action game I will be running in Fantasy Grounds on 27 Apr 2019. I sort of hash out the quick Mass Combat scenario here so I know how the overall engagement is intended to go. Also includes stats for a Named Egyptian NSA operative who will (hopefully) becoming a recurring antagonist.
  • GM Commentary: ConsOps 2.05 (4/21/19) – Discussion about the GURPS Action game I ran in Fantasy Ground on 4/20/2019 which turned out to mostly be a data-dump and setup for future episodes. No stats abused. Reflections on where what worked and what didn’t.
  • GamePrep: ConsOps, 2.05, Pt 2 (4/18/19) – Preparing for the GURPS Action game I will be running in Fantasy Grounds on 4/20. This is Part 2 of the game prep notes. No stats
  • GamePrep: ConsOps, 2.05, Pt 1 (4/16/19) – Preparing for the GURPS Action game I will be running in Fantasy Grounds on 4/20. This is probably Part 1 of the game prep notes. Stats for Grumman Albatross HU-16B.
  • GM Commentary: ConsOps 2.04 (4/14/19) – Discussion about the GURPS Action game I ran in Fantasy Ground on 4/14/2019 which was basically a boat chase, then a helicopter chase, then a car chase, the latter of which included the PCs shooting back. I also lament having to face off against a Wheelman with skills of 18 for such chases as well as having Players who have perfectly reasonable for not shooting back at the government forces chasing them…
  • GamePrep: ConsOps Season 2 Revised Arc (4/11/19) – My amended campaign outline for this run of the GURPS: Action game I’m running. No stats abused, just me laying out my current intended plot narrative … before the PCs screw me up even further.
  • GamePrep: ConsOps, 2.04 (4/09/19) – Preparing for the GURPS Action game I will be running in Fantasy Grounds on 4/13. Stats for SwiftShips 12-m Patrol Boat, SwiftShips 26-Meter Fast Patrol Craft, UH-1Y Venom, and Aérospatiale Gazelle.
  • GM Commentary: ConsOps 2.03 (4/07/19) – Discussion about the GURPS Action game I ran in Fantasy Ground on 4/6/2019 wherein I nearly killed a PC (about 3 points shy of insta-death.) Once again, focusing on the mistakes I made. No stats abused.
  • GamePrep: ConsOps, 2.03 (4/03/19) – Preparing for the GURPS Action game I will be running in Fantasy Grounds on 4/6. No stats abused this time.
  • GM Commentary: ConsOps 2.02 (3/31/19) – Discussion about the GURPS Action game I ran in Fantasy Ground on 3/30/2019. Once again, focusing on the mistakes I made. No stats abused.
  • GamePrep: ConsOps, 2.02 (3/27/19) – Preparing for the GURPS Action game I will be running in Fantasy Grounds on 3/30. Stats for intended Spetsnaz OPFOR.
  • GM Commentary: ConsOps 2.01 (3/25/19) – GM commentary on the GURPS Action game I ran in Fantasy Grounds on 3/23 that was not quite as successful as I would like. Includes YouTube recording of the session.
  • GamePrep: ConsOps Season 2, Session 1 This Weekend (3/18/19)
  • Game Prep: ConsOps Characters (1/27/19) – Updates for player availability for my forthcoming GURPS: Action game. Stats for two potential replacement characters for possible new players: Shaw (a blatant ripoff of Sameen Shaw from Person of Interest) who is a Shooter (Action) with medical abilities and Tony Villalobos, an Infiltrator (Action) whose cover is an AP journalist.
  • Game Prep: ConsOps 01b and Scenes 2/3 (1/22/19) – Continued planning for forthcoming GURPS: Action game. Multiple character stats (Egyptian Unit 777 personnel; Egyptian NSA undercover operative; Cleaner opponent; Wire Rat opponent; Face Man opponent) present. References to High Tech, of course.
  • Game Prep: Desert Patrol Vehicle (1/18/19) – Vehicle stats for the Chenowth Scorpion Desert Patrol Vehicle (DPV) / Fast Attack Vehicle (FAV) used by special forces. Clearly, stats definitely abused.
  • Game Prep: ConsOps Session 01a (1/14/19) – Additional prep-work on the GURPS: Action game. No stats abused this time, but I’ll definitely abuse them next time.
  • Game Prep: ConsOps Session 01 (1/09/19) – Working on the GURPS: Action game that I’m likely running for the Saturday group in a couple of weeks. Character (Syrian Army Vet), Vehicle stats (BTR-40) present. Some references to GURPS: Action, High-Tech, and (believe it or not) GURPS: Zombies.
  • Game Prep: New PC Background and Plot Elements (9/26/18) – Hashing out some character notes and plot elements for a new PC in my (eventually) resumption of “Red Sky,” a GURPS: Monster Hunters game set in the Dresden Files universe. No stats abused, though some specific books are referenced.
  • GURPS Action: Consular Operations (9/05/18) – Starting to brainstorm the GURPS: Action game that I’m thinking about taking over for the Saturday group. No stats abused.
