International Shipping and Mobile Display Issues Fixed
I was having issues on the new Gaming Ballistic Shopify Store with a pair of issues.
International Shipping
I had an issue with a Canadian not being able to check out. Fortunately, he contacted me with the issue and I was able to dig in.
I found out that it’s not enough to set up international shipping rates. You have to ALSO navigate:
Settings >> Markets >> International >> Manage >> ACTIVATE
That was more difficult than it needed to be, but thanks to the help of one of my Patreon subscribers from Belgium, we tested it and it works.
So … international shipping is now open for business, though the rates are horrid. The Belgian test-case showed €30 in shipping on a €10 book.
One more thing: I currently do not have DHL or UPS or FedEx enabled, only USPS (United States Postal Service), because while the rates look good facing ME, these companies (esp UPS, and recently sadness with DHL to Canada as well) charge ridiculous brokerage/handling fees. Like the Doug-facing postage might be $15-20, but the Customer “we’re holding your package hostage until you pay us” fees were $30-70.
I will enable not-USPS on request if folks want it, but buyer beware: I can’t control international shipping, taxes, duties, fees, or whatever.
Mobile Display of Products/Text
The screen text was being cut off on the sides on mobile. I figured this was an easy fix, but I also knew I didn’t know how to fix it. I finally was able to contact my consultants and they – as expected – were back with a “we fixed this” in maybe 15 minutes.
If You See Something …
There are always bugs in something like this. If you find one, ping me and I’ll dig into it.
